What Analyst Trend Measures

Tracks the balance of analyst upgrades vs. downgrades in the past 5 trading days. Consensus upgrades or downgrades can move stocks and often cluster around earnings or sector-wide shifts.

Buckets

TradeOdds classifies each trading day into one of these buckets for Analyst Trend. When you run an analysis, matching days must fall in the same bucket (or adjacent buckets if tolerance is set above 0).

Consensus Upgrade Mild Upgrade Neutral Mild Downgrade Consensus Downgrade

How It's Calculated

Net count of upgrades minus downgrades in the trailing 5 trading days, bucketed by magnitude.

How to Use Analyst Trend in TradeOdds

When you run an analysis on TradeOdds, Analyst Trend is one of 17 conditions that can be active. If Analyst Trend is toggled on, only historical days where Analyst Trend was in the same bucket as today are included in the match.

For example, if today's Analyst Trend reading puts it in the "Consensus Upgrade" bucket, TradeOdds finds all historical days for that stock where Analyst Trend was also classified as "Consensus Upgrade" — then shows you what happened next.

Adding more conditions narrows the match (fewer but more specific historical days). Removing conditions widens the match (more historical days but less specific). The right balance depends on whether you want statistical significance (more matches) or precision (fewer but more similar matches).
